I try to shop as cheaply as possible, while still providing everyone with interesting food which tastes good and will do them good. Money is tight for most people these days and we are certainly no exception, so I will suggest money saving shopping and cooking tips where I can.
As a family we are (almost all) fish eating vegetarians but many of the dishes I cook can be easily adapted to include meat.
Of our 4 children, one is lactose intolerant, one is intolerant of many FODMAPs (fermentable carbohydrates) and one is just plain fussy! (See http://fodmapsforfamilies.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/our-family-and-food.html for more details). This means that most days I have to produce more than one version of a meal. I did try cooking without FODMAPs for everyone at first but some dishes just don't work without onions and garlic. So my recipe suggestions will include alternatives for food intolerances where I have tried and tested them.
I will also share my culinary failures, as well as the successes. (After all, this is real life we are talking about).
Do let me know what you think of the blog and, of course, how you get on with any of the recipes. And, above all, enjoy!
